Linux / Unix : sqlplus in command prompt

In this article just describing what you have to do, to start use the sqlplus in the command prompt.

Before you start the sqlplus set the sid and oracle_home.

1. export ORACLE_SID=myblogstst
export ORACLE_HOME=path of oracle installation

export PATH=$PATH;$ORACLE_HOME/bin

You can place this setting in .profile file, so whenever you login to the box it will set the sid and oracle_home.

2. Once you set those then you can start the sqlplus by just typing the $sqlplus in command prompt and enter.

It will prompt you to enter the username and password. After authentication, the sqlplus prompt will be display. You can start execute sql, query it..

To quit from sqlplus just type quit;
